The Jack in the Pulpit has been the subject of many great artists. Georgia O'Keeffe's renditions are well-known favorites. I chose this subject because of its unique form. The bloom, though not readily visible, perches proudly under a shield of leaves. Carving this piece allowed me to expose the strength of this flower by the use of rhythm, texture, and light changes. Originally carved in Limestone, it is also available in a limited edition bronze.
